Grandmama
I was chatting with a 82 years old grandmama the other day at a bus stop while waiting for my bus to go home from the medical centre i was attached to for my SSC. It was a pretty pleasant conversation at first, about how bad the bus service and how they are alwiz running late...and later she found out that I am based at Hope Hospital. She started telling me her medical history where she had hip replacement 7 years ago at Hope. However, up to today she is still in pain and could only walk with the help of a cane. She said the doctors couldn't explain what was wrong ! The docs claimed it was infection..but for 7 years?? Hmm..she was asked to go in for a contrast scan next week but she was very skeptical about it . I could see she was tired of all da nonsense the doctors told her and she was very determined to ring up her solicitors if the docs gonna tell her "infection" again.
Suddenly, it struck my mind, she is gonna sue NHS? ...and the consultants that told her it was just infections ...she was telling me that " they" pushed her to do that..come to think of it.. I am gonna be one of "they" she was referring in a few years' time...gosh..~gulp~ can she actually sue NHS??
I kept my mouth shut about the issue and just reassured her about the scan. Hopefully the scan will provide some useful information. Then, she heard the scan gonna be painful and she was not very keen about it..ahh...poor grandmama..she actually teared telling me this..=(... sobs..sobs....Well, i can see where she is coming from, imagining all her friends who underwent hip replacements are able to walk normally (without a cane) , no doubt she felt cheated...and not able to fly to Florida to visit her gal pal made her feel the world is getting smaller and smaller...and even sitting and getting up is painful for her...I can't blame her to make such nasty decision after 10 years of trusting doctors that told her it was just infection. Poor thing..
Sincerely, I wish her well and hope she can fly to Florida soon.... i think she deserves a better quality of life especially she lost her husband years ago and paid for her granddaughter's uni tuition fees! How many grandmama will do that now? May God bless her...
