YAY! My first time working ...
Ah...Last Wednesday i was at Undergraduate Medic Building helping out for the Year 5 OSCE. Besides of getting a hint what should i expect in Final OSCE i also earned GBP40. Good deal huh? But come to think of it, hmm...wasn't that good after 50 students performing fundoscopy on me, tapping my jaw to elicit jaw jerk, reading Snellen chart over and over again till i could memorise all of the alphabets there. Well, if you are medical student i supposed u should have guessed it was Cranial nerves examination station. Yes, i was a simulated patient for the day. I would say they all have done pretty well! At least I am not too worried about them treating me next time...hehe..oh yeah, i got free lunch too and tea time break..yummy...if u are a manchester medic- do try to sign up as a helper next time! but on the downside, u never know what kind of simulated patient u gonna be..=)
OOh..the much awaited "THE DA VINCE CODE" was on screen in UK yesterday. It was a massive crowd there when i arrived at 8.45pm ,hoping to watch 9pm show. Guess what??-The tickets for 9 pm and 9.45 pm were sold out! What a shock to all of us because we never encounter such craze before over a movie here. This movie is really something huh? Especially being hyped up by the media so much and created quite a stir among the Christians. Well, after much anticipation for this movie, all of us settled for the 10.30pm show. Despite there was 1.5 hour before the show, there was already a crowd lining up there- in front of the cinema entrance... Oh god, never had i lined up 1.5 hour before a show!!
To my disappointment, the movie was not something that i expected..sad~ I thought the movie was a bit slow- paced though, not as thrilling as how the book was written. Isnt that irony? It had never crossed my mind that a story told through a book would be better than a 3D technology? In other words, I am even more impressed with Dan Brown's ingenious writing skills- a very well written story! If i were to compare, i think the movie kind of killed the whole twists and the thrills of the story. There were many scenes cut which made the whole story very straight forward and simple! I did not quite like the fact how they made Sophie Neveu a plain girl and how every puzzle was unfolded by Robert Langdon. I clearly remember that it was Sophie who revealed the mystery of mirror image text on the rose box. Where is the feminism idealogy that was much discussed about in the book? stupid director-must be a sexist! jk...bottom line of this movie, i think everyone should watch it as a normal thriller movie and should not be so taken in with the storyline. Watch it with an open heart is the best bet =)..I am sure there are people who got very upset about how Mr. Brown twisted the whole origin of Christianity but come to think of it- why did u let a story like that shake your belief? Just let it go!...and enjoy the movie.... Cheers people!! Go get an ice cream..gosh it is warm here!! hehe
